Happy Independence Day

Some how, it seems odd celebrating the birth of a dying country, but sometimes you gotta go with the flow. Happy Independence Day comrades! Same to our opposition too.

Let me take a moment out for my monthly nag.

It's now the Fourth. Let's get those pledges in the mail if you haven't already. I'll be honest. I haven't yet. I won't be paid until tomorrow. My two biggest clients pay me between the first and the fifth. I guess because of the holiday, it will be the fifth this month - I hope! Oh well, I'll survive.

Also, it's now only 19 days until our Laurens conference. It's still not too late to attend. If you live four hours drive or less, and you don't work on Saturdays, you really don't have many excuses. Gas is expensive, but not that expensive. You really could do it WITHOUT staying over. If you left the house by 6:00 AM EST, you could be back before midnight EST. It would be a heck of a long day, but it is doable. Don't be afraid of meeting the big bad Nazis in person. We don't bite. We're just regular folks like everyone else. Also, it's about a million to one that ZOG will raid us, and there will be no press allowed. They won't even be hovering around the front of the Redneck Shop like they did outside OJ Simpson's Brentwood mansion, so don't worry about them. Your privacy and anonymity will remain intact.

INTERESTING INDEPENDENCE DAY TRIVIA

Paul Revere did not make his famous ride alone. He had a partner named William Dawes.

Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston, Ma. He was the youngest son of 18 children.

Franklin's father was a candle maker from Boston named Josiah.

His mother was Abiah Folger, an ancestor of the coffee family and was born on Nantucket Island, Ma.

Benedict Arnold sold the plans to West Point to a British officer named Major John Andre for 10, 000 pounds (about $30,000). If you adjust for inflation, it was quite a fortune. Andre was later caught and hanged as a spy, but not before he got the plans through to his superiors.

Benedict Arnold served in the British Army after he betrayed his country. The British considered him a traitor to his country and gave him neither respect nor admiration.

The lawyer who defended the British soldiers in the Boston Massacre was named John Adams. Later to become President John Adams. He had a son named John Quincy Adams who also became president. They were the first two presidents related by blood. The others were Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt, and George H.W. and George W. Bush.

John Adams's father was a brewery owner named Samuel Adams. Yes, as in Samuel Adams Beer.

ALL of our Founding Fathers were members of the Freemasons - including George Washington.

Benjamin Franklin wanted it specifically put in the U.S. Constitution that Jews should be barred from immigrating, but Thomas Jefferson felt that it would set too dangerous a precedent, so Franklin's motion was not carried.

Benjamin Franklin served as America's first Post Master General and Ambassador to France.

Our second ambassador to France was Thomas Jefferson.

In 1787, the Constitution was written, England recognised our independence, and the Montgolfier Brothers flew their first hot air balloon in France.

Many of our Founding Fathers, including George Washington were born in England.

Colonel Prescott, who commanded the Rebel forces at the battle of Bunker Hill found himself outnumbered and low on ammunition. He ordered his men to, "Hold your fire until you see the whites of their eyes!" He lost the battle anyway.

France and Spain were allies to America during the Revolution. Germany was an English ally.
