California Bad-DREAM Act Signed By Gov. Jerry Brown

Brown OKs Dream Act for illegal immigrant student aid

The Associated Press

SACRAMENTO - Illegal immigrants can now apply for state-funded scholarships and aid at state universities after Gov. Jerry Brown announced Saturday that he has signed the second half of a legislative package targeting such students.

AB131 by Assemblyman Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, is the second half of the California Dream Act. Brown signed the first half of the package in July, which approved private scholarships and loans for students who are illegal immigrants.

Under current law, illegal immigrant students who have graduated from a California high school and can prove they're on the path to legalize their immigration status can pay resident tuition rates. The bill would allow these students to apply for state aid.

The contentious second half of the package requires that immigrant students meet the same requirements as all other students applying for financial aid at state universities but specifies that they only qualify for financial aid after all the other legal residents have applied.

The bills are different from the federal Dream Act, which includes a path to citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants.

Brown says the bill expands educational opportunities for all qualified students.

"Going to college is a dream that promises intellectual excitement and creative thinking," Brown said. "The Dream Act benefits us all by giving top students a chance to improve their lives and the lives of all of us."

Critics of the bills say it undermines immigration

laws and encourages illegal immigration by granting access to state resources reserved for legal residents. Many Republican lawmakers say legal students have had their grants cut in light of recent budget cuts to higher education.

Supporters argue that children whose were brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents shouldn't be punished.

The state Department of Finance estimates that 1 percent of all Cal Grant funds, the state student financial aid program, will be affected by the legislative package when it goes into effect in January 2013. The department says that 2,500 students would qualify for aid under the bill and estimates the costs to equal $14.5 million of a $1.4 billion program.

I ask again: Where is the freaking money coming from? From California taxpayers, that's who. Whites pay, illegals get freebies. However, many California residents, both Whites and non-Whites, including Mexican-Americans are already grumbling about this.

I say good! The more people that are pissed, the better.

Something else the article mentioned. Illegals are not required to pay an out-of-state-fee for college. Yet if an American citizen who's from say, Arizona wants to go to UCLA, they have to pay. Well, if someone is an illegal alien, then technically they are NOT California residents. So even if they can legally attend college (which they shouldn't be), they should have to pay the out-of-state-resident fee as well. Illegals from Mexico are out-of-state-residents.

As I'm sure most of you know, the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations are continuing. Maybe people are pissed enough out here about the Ca. DREAM ACT that maybe we can get some demonstrations of our own going. When there are 20 NSMer's demonstrating, it's a joke. If there are 20,000 people demonstrating, that's a totally different matter. We need to give ZOG something to REALLY get worried about. But at least, people are starting to wake up.

  1. Dan, I don't know how you and other Whites can stand to live in CA. I give you credit for hanging in there and not fleeing. California seems to be the worst state in the union. With the high cost of living, liberal atmosphere, endless taxes and the fact that it is so rapidly becoming a Third World Nightmare.

It's certainly not a surprise that "Comrade" Brown (fitting last name) would sign this, but I do wonder how much more damage he will do before he leaves office.

You are right though, the more people that are pissed the better. I know that anger needs to be gotten a hold of, a person doesnt want to be so enraged that they can't think straight. But I do think a lot more White people, everywhere, need to be really pissed off right now.

  2. Wow, just in the last few hours I've read that Commissar Brown has signed an anti-gun bill, and a bill giving more protection to "transgendered" people. Can't wait to see what's next!

I never could understand the reasoning that if you restrict guns, society will be safer. Now how is this supposed to work? I'm, a burglar doesn't hesitate to break a window to rob a house. Remember, if you leave your house unlocked, and it gets robbed, it's just burglary. If he literally breaks in, it's burglary AND breaking and entering.

If you outlaw or restrict guns, criminals will obtain them on the Black Market. Banning guns won't stop crime. Indeed, you'll just be making gun runners rich.

I do not support homosexuality of transgenders in any way. However, if they keep it out of my face, I'll leave them alone. I have nothing personal against them. I just wish they would stay in the closet like the good old days. Sure, it's hard on them, but it's better for society. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Yeah, California is a cesspool. I'll probably leave as soon as my folks pass away. They're about 80, and say the next move for them is a nursing home or the cemetery. They have a point. Besides, a move might be life threatening for them, so maybe they should stay here. I have to stay near them because they can't do everything for themselves anymore. They need me. Family comes first.
